INTRO TO FLEET RACING

Chicago Sailing's Introduction to Fleet Racing 404 is where sailors can become crew members for competitive racing boats. Class meets for three hours of hands-on racing every Wednesday evening. Under the guidance of Chicago Sailing’s renowned sailing staff, each team competes in a series of short fleet races. After each race, the crew’s performance is evaluated, positions are rotated, and another race gets underway. This method allows for many different skills to be honed. Participants will learn each position completely and develop a firm sense of teamwork. Each session begins with a 1-hour skill drill in which mechanics of boat handling are coached. Then it is off to the races!

Competing against each other, determined crews will be running races. Students learn quickly in this exciting learning environment. Crew members quickly adapt to the mechanics of racing and how to support their team members. Victory is one course away.
