Intermediate Sailing 161
Prerequisite 101, 121 or equivalent
Course Description
This 14 -hour, on-the-water course expands upon the coursework of
BASIC SAILING 101 and introduces important, lifelong seamanship skills. It also serves to resolve any lingering uncertainties about your basic sailing skills. Most important, Intermediate Sailing 161 teaches a wide range of boating skills necessary to captain a small keelboat with competence and confidence. Classes are conducted on our
J22 keelboat.
Qualified graduates are eligible to sit for the
US SAILING Basic Keelboat Certification written examination immediately following the last class. Successful graduates will be awarded certification and join the ranks of
US SAILING, the governing body of the sport of sailing in America.

Basic Keelboat exam is administered on the final day of the course, or by appointment. Please allow up to two hours for taking the exam, grading and review. Results and certifications are issued immediately.
